Howard Johnson by Wyndham College Park

A few bugs were crawling around, and the breakfast wasn’t very good. They kept saying my credit card was declined even after the card company told them it was fine. Also, they photocopied my card and wouldn’t give me the copy back at checkout. The nicest part was walking into a cool room. They’d left the cooler on, which was welcome on a very hot, humid day.

I was pleased with the room and took a chance after reading the reviews. The room I stayed in had been remodeled and was very nice. I figure a clean, professional guest would get a nice room. If a dirty, drug addicted, homeless family would probably trash it anyway, why give them the opportunity? I wouldn’t want to stay in a room after them.

I was glad they had a room at the last minute when every other hotel was sold out. But I’d paid for a nonsmoking room and it still smelled of smoke. Other rooms were available, yet when I complained they handed me a can of disinfectant spray. I raised it again and was told the hotel was fully booked.

I’ve stayed at this location before without a problem. Now I’m back just before 7am after a long night, and Alexander at the desk says I can’t check in until after 2pm, even with a reservation. I’m a Wyndham rewards member, and early check-in is part of the package. What about travelers who’ve been on the road, need sleep, and choose a hotel? Are they supposed to sleep in their car on a 29 degree night? You’re going to lose a customer.
