OYO Hotel Atlanta Airport Southeast (ex.Knights Inn Forest Park)

My stay at OYO was awful from start to finish, with terrible service and billing. The place smelled bad, it was dirty, and the whole experience was a mess. Save your money and sleep in your car, or pay more to stay somewhere else.

I booked two beds because I was expecting someone from out of town. He missed his flight, luckily, because after I napped on one bed I realized almost right away that it had bed bugs. I’d already seen enough to know trying to get another room would be hell, and I was exhausted after walking three hours to get there. So I slept in the other bed for the rest of my stay. The price was the main reason I chose the place, and being down to my last dollar, I was grateful it was affordable. The first day, the woman at the desk was courteous and helpful. I’ve worked front desk myself, so I know that can be challenging. But the policies seemed to change quickly. Two days earlier, she let me get a room at 10 a.m. Today, after I’d returned my key, I realized I needed to stay another night. She insisted on 3 p.m., even though OYO had emailed me asking me to extend, and I could see several rooms sitting empty throughout my stay. I know reservations matter, but this didn’t seem like a busy hotel. I’d left less than 30 minutes before my plans changed, and she didn’t even recognize me, lol. I managed, at least. I might use this chain again when I need a cheap hotel, but this particular place needs work. Like the hotel where I used to work, it needs consistent cleanliness and customer service.

This was the worst motel experience I’ve had. The bathroom was filthy, with hair from previous guests, and its floor had turned gray from the dirt. The room floor felt dirty even through my shoes. The sheets smelled like they hadn’t been washed in a long time, and the TV remote was missing. On top of that, kids were running around screaming at 2 a.m., and there were gunshots going off.

The room was covered in visible stains, from the lampshades and walls to the floor, sink, bathroom door, and refrigerator. Then my daughter spotted roaches crawling out from under the sheets. Once I got up, I saw them coming from the sink, tub, nightstand, and walls. I was livid and rushed to the front desk, where I demanded a refund. They said that wasn’t an option and moved us to another room. It was just as nasty, only without roaches. I slept sitting straight up with one eye open. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at, and the health department needs to look into it. I was also double charged for the room, and the man at the desk was rude and wouldn’t help. I was exhausted, so I turned out the lights to nap after checking in, but about 20 minutes later my daughter called out about the roaches. Don’t come here.
