Sleep Inn Atlanta Airport

The location near the airport was handy, and the price was low, but the stay was a mess. We had six people across two rooms, and the second room’s keycards kept stopping, even though we weren’t keeping them by our phones as staff suggested. Then we found a cockroach crawling across the floor where my toddler was playing. I squashed it, took it to the desk, and asked for one night’s room charge back. The night clerk said only the supervisor could issue a refund in the morning. With flights canceled out of Atlanta and every nearby hotel booked, we had nowhere else to go. In the morning, the man at the desk said he couldn’t refund us and offered points instead. I asked again for a refund; he said the big man upstairs would need to look into it. I had to leave for my flight, and he said they’d get back to me. I still haven’t heard anything.

The smell hit me as soon as I entered the room: moldy, skunky, and rotten, like mildew mixed with dirty mop water and something spoiled. I couldn’t tell whether it was mold, sewage, or both. The floor was soaked, not merely damp, and the odor continued through the room and hallway. I felt uncomfortable and on edge the whole time, and it honestly seemed unhealthy. This was an awful experience, and I rarely write reviews, but I feel I should warn people. The hotel needs professional cleaning and an inspection. Wet floors and that overpowering stench aren’t acceptable. Save your money and health, and stay somewhere else.

The beds were comfortable, it was inexpensive, and the airport was close, but the service was poor. The fridge and waffle machine didn’t work, the TV remote batteries were dead, and there weren’t towels available. Staff wouldn’t get any from an empty room and said the hotel was booked, which I don’t believe. The shuttle stopped at 11 p.m., even though we arrived at the airport at 1 a.m. The driver did a great job, at least. I was glad to have a cheap place, but I was completely disappointed in how it was run. Don’t send me an apology, the reviews make it seem like this has been bad for years.

The room and hallway both reeked of smoke, and when my husband mentioned it, staff seemed unconcerned. Our room had a broken chair and a closet door that had been taken off and left against a wall. The toilet was badly stained, and we weren’t given enough towels. When we asked for more, we were told there weren’t any because the hotel was booked. The first-floor shared bathroom was nasty too. While we waited to check in, the owners were lying on the entryway sofas in their pajamas. The place and the staff were deplorable. Don’t stay here under any circumstances.
