Americas Best Value Inn & Suites College Station

The owner was rude. My debit card was run at 7 am on checkout day even though I had paid in full, and the owner tried to charge for an extra day for reasons I don't understand. She also kept my deposit without explaining why. The listing said pets were allowed, but when we arrived they weren't. The room was filthy, and I had to clean it before going to sleep. The sheets were badly stained, so we slept on top of the blankets. There was no breakfast. The pool was there, but nasty. The yard needed mowing, with grass past my ankles, and the big outdoor trash cans were overflowing.

It was over 90 outside, and the room was roasting when we arrived. The AC was only on fan and the window was open, which I could put up with. But when I went to put our soap in the shower, I killed a roach. Then I set the key on the nightstand and spotted another one. I have videos. The room was dirty, there was change on the chair, and the bathroom window was open. I took a photo of the mess before we carried our things back to the car. We'd booked only hours earlier and had been inside about 30 minutes. When I asked for our money back as we left, he didn't want to return the deposit and tried to charge a $10 inconvenience fee. This was the worst experience I've had with this chain. The manager and property were a joke.

I'd booked and paid for two nights, but stayed just one and couldn't get even a partial refund. I wasn't expecting all of it back, but a small portion would've been better than losing the full amount after such unfriendly service. I had an unexpected problem with my card, and they wouldn't hear me out. The office kept calling both my cell and room phone about the refundable deposit, which made everything worse. They did eventually get their money, though later than expected and entirely outside my control. It's okay, I just know not to stay there or recommend it again.

We were in town for chilifest, and after a long day of concerts and socializing I hoped to come back and relax. Instead I dreaded returning to this dump. My girlfriend and I stayed there six months ago, and we're only writing now because we were talking about how bad it was. Worst hotel we've ever stayed in. I'm surprised she didn't dump me for making her stay there. The place looked so bad that we were embarrassed to have friends pick us up, so we Ubered in and out. It's in a rough area, and when my girlfriend opened the door, police cars were outside investigating someone staying there. Our key only worked if we fiddled with it just right. The room smelled terrible, and there seemed to be dust or particles in the air. I could hardly breathe, my throat itched, and I coughed all night, so sleeping was tough. The fridge had something red smeared inside that looked like blood. It was disgusting.
