Grape Escape Inn & Suites

I only stayed one night, but would happily come back longer and enjoy the house and hot tub. This is a charming old house in downtown Lodi, beautifully maintained, with lovely rooms. Restaurants and shops are an easy walk away. The staff were attentive and easy to reach, and check-in is self-serve with a code for coming and going. Great place!

The bed and bedding were very comfortable, and the shared areas were tidy and clean. The hosts weren't there in person, but communication before and during the stay was good. We had some trouble with the door locks and ended up using a key, though getting help was easy. One bedroom in our suite was quite cold, but they provided a space heater. A nice stay and good value in the off-season.

A few days before my wedding weekend, my booking through booking got canceled and I was stressed. Karen from Grape Escape contacted me, helped restore the reservation, and made the whole mess much better. She even upgraded my room. The house is magical and beautiful, and it made for a truly amazing experience. Thanks, Grape Escape! I'll book directly with them next time instead of using booking.com.

The backyard was beautiful for sitting out in the evenings with a glass of wine, and the kitchen was fully stocked. Cleaners came by a couple of times and topped up the coffee. I took a group for a girls' trip to Lodi Wine Country, and we absolutely loved the house. Jaydon and Karen were excellent hosts and responded quickly whenever we needed anything. The rooms were large and comfortable, and we rented four of the five rooms. Sharing with other guests was no problem, everyone seemed friendly, and the place felt safe, close to downtown and other amenities. A couple of things to know: photos showed a hot tub, but it had been removed a long time ago, so there's no need to pack a bathing suit. In the Merlot suite, the bedrooms and bathroom connect through the laundry room, which doesn't lock off from the rest of the house. At night, 'merlot one' locked the bathroom door to keep strangers out of her room, which left 'merlot 2' locked out of that bathroom. There's another bathroom by the front door for midnight trips, but it's a long walk when you're sleepy.
