Staybridge Suites College Station by IHG

Our room was large and incredibly clean, and the breakfast area and rest of the hotel were very clean too. The food was good and there was lots of variety. The man who checked us in was kind and helpful. It’s near A&M and plenty of restaurants and stores. I’d stay here again.

I checked out on May 23rd, got a final bill and receipt, and thought that was settled. A couple of days later, manager Anthony Aguilar left a voicemail asking whether I was coming back because housekeeping noticed my things were gone. I’d already checked out. Then I found a charge for four extra nights on my card. I’ve called three times, left Anthony a voicemail, and asked the front desk twice to call me back. It’s been over a week without a response. I stayed at Staybridge Suites for six weeks, and it was one of the dirtiest, worst-managed hotels I’ve experienced in more than 15 years as an IHG member. Black mold was growing on the bathroom wall, and spiders and insects were crawling around. I bought bug traps, and later caught two cockroaches in one after seeing them cross the kitchen floor at night. When I went to the desk, they said there was no exterminator and offered a can of Raid. During my first week, the bathroom lights went out on a Friday. Maintenance doesn’t work weekends, so I went to Home Depot, bought bulbs, and changed them myself. I never got a refund or credit. This is completely unacceptable and reflects terribly on the IHG brand. The place was dirty, unprofessional, and lacking basic hospitality. I strongly advise avoiding it.

I’m from India, and this is my fifth stay at the Staybridge. I really like the hotel and its location. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and it’s a nice area for an evening walk. Carter’s and other shops are close too. The rooms are good, the service is good, and I like the breakfast.

The location is fine, but the service was awful. When we arrived, the room was 50°. We went to the front desk for help, and Manager Jake blamed us for not turning on the heat, even though we’d been there less than 10 minutes and hadn’t forgotten to turn it on. They had left a window open overnight while temperatures dropped. Later, my 13-year-old cousin got stuck in the elevator when it malfunctioned. Manager Jake blamed him for not knowing how to use an elevator and said so directly to him. This hotel isn’t worth the headache. There are plenty of better places to stay around the area.
