Delta Hotels Colonial Heights

The front desk young man was nice and cooperative, but the room was a major disappointment. After a seven-hour drive for a wedding, we booked Marriott because we’d had exceptional stays at its hotels in other states. For $180 a night plus, I didn’t expect to live out of a suitcase. There was no dresser, no suitcase stand, no microwave, and no real table. The metal pieces sticking out from the wall under the TV and in the bathroom were useless. My suitcase barely fit on the desk and stuck out, so I’m going to buy a plastic three-drawer unit at Walmart for the weekend. The room is spacious enough for a dresser or drawers under the desk counter. Pathetic. Charging for parking when the hotel isn’t downtown and has its own lot is ridiculous. It should be free and included with the room. Very disappointing for a Marriott.

(Review written by my 10 year old son) The reception lady was really nice and kind. The lobby was modern, smelled good, and had music playing. Our room smelled nice too, and everything was really good and clean. I enjoyed staying at the Delta Hotels by Marriott and would come back.

I usually stay here at least once a month and it’s normally pretty good, but my visit on 5/5/26 was particularly bad. The room hadn’t been vacuumed and the shower was dirty. The hotel was completely booked, and noise went on past 1:00am. Staff did nothing to get it under control. Parking has gone from $10.00 to a new charge of $17.00 a night, which I was told about a week before I arrived. The large lot was covered in glass, trash, and debris, so it didn’t feel cleaner or safer enough to justify the fee. When I asked about the new charge, I got “I don’t know,” and was told the manager wasn’t there. I asked her to contact me, but she never did. It seems the fees are being handled through a third party partnering with Marriott and other hotels. I still haven’t found a phone number, and they didn’t give me a parking receipt. I’m very disappointed with this location and hope this isn’t a trend for Marriott.

The location worked well for me, and after four nights I can say the room was simple and clean, with crisp sheets and a clean bathroom. I liked the removable shower head. I wasn’t including breakfast, but when I asked for hot water, the woman was pleasant and gave me two cups. The mattress was much too soft for me. It bent my spine enough that I woke up with a backache the next day, so I gave it three stars. I’d probably try another hotel next time and hope for a better bed.
