The room was the real problem. The main light didn’t work, there was no faucet in the bathtub, and the sink tap was so loose it practically danced around. I found bugs in the bath and in the bed, and the towels smelled bad and had human hair on them. There were brown stains all over the bathroom. Before that, they’d sold me a room with breakfast, then emailed a few hours later to say breakfast wasn’t served at this location. I don’t check email all the time, so I only found out that way. A horrible stay. Never again.

The room was small, and the furnishings felt dated. The Magnavox TV on the wall had a circa-2010 feel, and the thin walls let in street traffic noise. Still, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the toilet flushed, and the shower had hot water. The front desk guy was friendly at check-in. Getting to I87 is quick, and it’s less than ten minutes from the airport. I’ve seen the mixed reviews, but the “Super 8” in Albany isn’t half bad. I’d stay again, 4 out of 5.

The people here are very nice, and the rooms are quiet and clean. It’s in a great spot for shopping and restaurants. I’d definitely recommend it.

Antony visited this place ten years ago for the Impossible Hotel program and presented a vision for it. I believe the hotel has changed hands since then, but the problems behind its decline back then still seem to be there.

There’s a small breakfast bar with the basics, but there are lots of nearby restaurants, including an IHOP right next door. Parking options are plentiful, and the non-smoking room didn’t smell of smoke. The sheets and blankets were fresh, the appliances clean, the ice machine always worked, and there’s an ATM in the office plus a snack and drink vending machine. It’s convenient that someone is always in the office if you need to talk to them. The room’s AC got nice and cold, and the TV was a good size with a decent channel selection. Great price, service, and place to stay.
