Days Inn by Wyndham Colorado Springs Airport

The Days Inn in Coeur 'd Alene, Idaho was the complete opposite, a five-star, night-and-day comparison. This stay at Days Inn, 1780 Aeroplaza Dr, Colorado Springs, Co., was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I arrived at 1 p.m., before the 3 p.m. check-in, and was told my room wasn’t ready. When I came back at 3, the access cards didn’t work and the door handle was broken. There wasn’t a single washcloth, just two bath towels, and getting one washcloth took two hours. The carpet had large stains, the bedspread had burn holes, several pillows lacked cases, the alarm clock was broken, and there was just one hanger. A lamp was missing a bulb, the sink drain plug was missing, and there was mold in the bathroom. No coffee machine in the room, no PC in the lobby, and breakfast was less than continental. There wasn’t even a “Do Not Disturb” sign, and I didn’t see the pool shown in the ads. I had little time and didn’t expect complaining to improve things. During the day I packed my belongings and left, returning only in the evenings for my three-night stay. The hotel later asked how it went, so I sent them the details above. There was no apology or refund, and no sign they would fix anything for the next guest. Their response was, “He was taken care of.” I’m a Wyndham Hotel Member.

The woman at the counter was very nice, but hotel management needs to invest in the basics. We rented two rooms. One had a broken door, and neither had garbage cans or towels. We waited two hours after asking for towels, then gave up on showering. Breakfast was just muffins. One room had a coffee pot but no coffee; it had no fridge or microwave, while the other room did. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

At $66 for a night in a two-queen room, the rate was a real bargain. Check-in was quick and the front desk was good, and there was plenty of parking. A $100 refundable deposit was required. The room was functional and decent overall, though the carpets looked dirty and there was trash in the bathroom. We got only two bath towels and no bath mat, possibly because the motel was busy. Breakfast was just coffee, milk, and small muffins, which was disappointing. The amenities and breakfast took some shine off the deal, but for the price it still seemed like good value for a budget stop. I might stay again with better preparation. First review I’ve ever written, but I had to share my take. The pool and hot tub were closed both days, which was the part we’d been most looking forward to. Breakfast hours weren’t friendly for anyone hoping to sleep in on a relaxing weekend. The TV was tiny, about computer-monitor size, none of the channels worked, and the remote was dead. This morning the fire alarms went off and everyone had to leave for half an hour before being let back in for safety reasons. The blankets also had the same cigarette burns and stains people keep mentioning.
