Holiday Inn Express Colorado Springs Afa Northgate

The staff moved us upstairs, above the middle school basketball team, and we finally got some rest. We'd settled into a second-floor room, only to find that the team had booked the entire third floor and was apparently having its tournament in the room above us. They carried on for hours, well into the night, until I couldn't take it anymore. The front desk staff member was at her wits' end too, but she was accommodating and got us moved. Staff were great, the coffee was actually good, and breakfast was pretty good.

The room was clean and looked out toward the front range. Breakfast was good, with potatoes and gluten-free bread, things you don't usually see at Holiday Inns. The staff were also helpful when we asked where we could park a U-Haul. A really nice Holiday Inn.

Pam checked us in late and was a huge help with laundry and getting us a great room. Sierra made breakfast run so smoothly, constantly replenishing everything, and was lovely when I asked about ingredients. The rest of the staff were wonderful too. Honestly, everyone deserves a raise. We got a beautiful room on short notice, and there were lots of useful amenities and things to do in the hotel and nearby. Such a lovely stay.

We'd stayed here almost every weekend we came to Colorado Springs, but this was our last visit. The room itself didn't seem clean, there was mold in the bathroom, and dust had built up beneath the heater and air conditioner. The TV wouldn't work, possibly because of cables we couldn't reach, and the wall thermostat wasn't working either. Then a couple next door started fighting. The woman was screaming and throwing things, and the man began yelling and slamming things. It woke our two kids and scared them. They kept going in and out of their room, so I wasn't willing to leave ours. The phone in our room didn't work, and my cell had no signal there, so I couldn't contact the front desk. Other guests just poked their heads out to watch instead of calling for help. I wouldn't expect this in a place like this. I told the front desk guy the next morning and suggested they check that everything in the room where it happened was working.
