Mountain Song

We canceled and took a $400 loss because we didn't feel safe staying there. The apartment itself may look nice inside, but outside there were overflowing dumpsters, an uncut, trashy yard, and the balcony sliding door was boarded up. I texted the property contact to cancel because of the neighborhood and the boarded door. He said the area was safe and explained the boards were due to a fire, but that hadn't been disclosed to us. Don't let the pictures fool you. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It was quiet and tucked away in a residential neighborhood that felt rough. More than a week after our visit, the owner accused our visitors of stealing kitchen utensils, towels, and washcloths. Don't book unless you're okay with being treated nicely in person and then called a thief behind your back.

We were worried about finding a place while moving across the country and dealing with homelessness, and we're so thankful this one was available. We've been comfortable in unit 1 downstairs for two weeks. The bedrooms work well for us and the kids, and the kitchen has what we need to cook and clean. We added scissors, extra spoons, ice cube trays, and an ice cream scoop. We wanted to buy a toaster too, but money is tight. There's a TV, two couches, one with a pullout bed, an AC unit in the living room, and a fan in each bedroom. There are also plenty of extra towels and bedding. The bathroom came with soap, toilet paper, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. It's near Walmart and the base. Very pleased with our stay, and grateful this place exists.

The owner was patient and quick to respond to all my texts, even though I worried I was asking too many questions. The place was clean and felt homey, with carpeted bedrooms, five beds across three bedrooms, a living room, dining room, and patio. The kitchen was fully equipped with a stove, fridge, countertop, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, double sink, cookware, dishes, glasses, and silverware. There were extra blankets, wifi, TV, Netflix, and coin laundry too. We had much more space than we needed, and I really enjoyed the stay. Some people complain about the neighborhood or that it's not a house, but it beats a low-star hotel. Getting there is a little rough because the roads aren't in good shape, and there's an elementary school down the road, so drive carefully. I hope to come back.
