The room felt neglected and musty, and I was uncomfortable there. It was freezing because the heat didn’t work; staff brought us a small space heater but warned that turning it up too high could knock out the power, and it barely helped. Water never got hot either. We asked for another blanket and found stains on it that looked like urine. One bed’s sheets had cigarette burns and holes. Even for $43, it wasn’t worth it. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had, and I wouldn’t come back.

The smell was awful, and the room was dirty. The fridge stank, the microwave didn’t work, and the room was freezing; the cheap space heater barely did anything. Everything was unplugged, apparently because running two things could trip the breaker. One bed had no top sheet, just a thin blanket that looked like it was from the 70s and had a huge burn hole, so we moved it to the bed we were using. On top of all that, there was no hot water, and no way to call the office for help. That was only a small part of the problems.

The old Asian man who owns the place was nice and helpful. The room itself was rough: there was one sheet, one thin bedspread and pillows, two threadbare towels and one washcloth, with no toiletries, toilet paper, soap, or shampoo. A portable heater couldn’t keep it warm. Neighbors were noisy at all hours, coming and going. The sink had no running water, and there wasn’t an alarm clock or phone. We had no maid service during three days and nights.

The room had an unbearable smell that we couldn’t get rid of. I was charged $115, and it felt like a complete waste of money. After we complained, the front desk person who walked through with us said, word for word, that “some rooms dont even get cleaned!” That matched what we saw. I’d give this zero stars if I could. In room 103, right by the office, there was hair and blood on the blanket, dirt on the chairs and floors, and no trash cans. The toilet seat was splattered with poop and pee, there was hair in the shower, and the floors clearly hadn’t been swept or mopped. You could see and hear the dirt as you walked. My husband opened the nightstand and dresser drawers and found more dirt and used feminine products. I’m completely disgusted with the Springs Inn and wouldn’t recommend staying overnight. I’d expect guests in this situation to be refunded, though I suspect trying would be a waste of my time. This was the worst place I’ve stayed in my 41 years. Spare yourself the disappointment.

I used to stay here years ago, when it was a better place. Now it’s a dirty slum motel, and the manager has anger issues. I booked through booking.com and paid him $100 cash at check-in; he handed back $14 and called it a deposit. The room smelled of mildew, but I could live with that. In the shower, half the water came from the tub faucet and half from the shower head. The heater didn’t work either, though I didn’t complain about that. I saw another guest getting a space heater from reception. What I couldn’t accept was the cigarette ash on the pillow and a comforter full of cigarette burns, especially for what was supposed to cost $50. I went to tell the manager and ask for clean linens. He came to look, called me a liar, raised his voice, and said giant cigarette holes were normal at cheap hotels. I said even a $12 room shouldn’t be like that, and asked him not to yell at me. It turned into a shouting match. He followed me to the office while I asked for my money back and returned only $90, saying booking had kept the rest. I think that was a lie and that he kept $10 out of spite. There’s security camera footage of the exchange. I’m still weighing whether to call the police over the $10, though I’d rather see him fired. When he came back to the room while I was in my truck, he yelled at me for having taken a shower. I wasn’t being unreasonable. No one should stay here unless sleeping on the street is the only other option and they’re willing to be verbally attacked for raising legitimate complaints. I’ve slept in cleaner budget places in third world countries, including $2 places in freaking Borneo. I’m at a Travelodge now for the same price, and it’s immaculate with breakfast. This isn’t sponsored. I don’t know who the old Chinese manager guy is, but he shouldn’t be in the service industry. He’s a loose cannon and bad at his job. Owner, please get new linens, have a handyman fix the plumbing, and fix the heaters. If I wanted to find out what Belarus feels like in winter, I’d go to Belarus in winter. This is Colorado Springs in February, home of “Space Force”. Fire the manager. At $50+ a night, this is unacceptable. Period!
