The Broadmoor Hotel

Julia at the Broadmore West front desk was especially kind, courteous, and helpful. I hope her supervisor sees this and gives her the high five she deserves. Everyone else we encountered was professional too, and the whole visit was a five star experience. Highly recommend this place.

I loved winding down by the fireplace near the lobby, and the grounds looked well cared for and ready for snow. The property is spread out, but a shuttle connects the different spots, including the golf course and parking garage. There's also a hallway filled with photos of famous politicians and celebrities who've visited over the years. Our room was spacious and very clean. Check in and check out both went smoothly, and the staff were respectful, professional, and helpful. They held our bags at the concierge while we were at the conference, which was handy. I came for a conference and was lucky to get a room, so book well in advance if you're planning to visit. Some restaurants on the property need reservations, and we hadn't booked ahead. I highly recommend dinner at Ristorante Del Lago and at the Hotel Bar. There’s also a movie theater and bowling alley that I'd like to try next time.

I came home more stressed than when I arrived, and I didn't decompress at all. This is meant to be one of the best resorts in the world, but the weekend was a mess. I appreciate Allen calling to reassure me that everything would be okay, but I should've stayed home and saved $1,000. The problems have happened on both of my annual visits. Last year, our reserved room wasn't available. We were given one queen bed and a couch bed instead of the two beds we booked. There wasn't even an apology or much reaction, just a room we hadn't reserved. This year, check in was a problem again. When we got to the room, the beds hadn't been made, and there was hair in the tub, so we had to wipe it down ourselves. Room service brought chocolate with nuts even though we hadn't ordered it and had said no nuts because our child has a nut allergy. It was frustrating. Then the valet left my car door open for 10 minutes, draining the battery. I had to call and ask them to shut it. After two years of this, all I wanted was a smooth stay. I don't think I'll come back.

The Broadmoor has this old West feel, but the way they look after you is fit for royalty. Staff are personable and professional, with care taken over everything from the room to the dining experience. Everyone should get to experience the place at least once.
