I tried staying here again, but nearly a week after checkout I still hadn’t received my deposit. This time it was $100 because the rooms were renovated. The first time, the deposit was $50 and took three weeks to come back. At most hotels I get it back as soon as I check out, and I’ve never had to wait multiple weeks elsewhere. There were also repeated problems in the rooms I stayed in, three in total. After being gone all day, I found poop on and around the toilet handle, and on my fresh towels. The shower smelled as if someone had just used it. Food went missing several times, including my Monster and canned water, and the TV channel had been changed. It felt like someone had used the room while I was out, almost as though it were their reservation. The worst thing was finding my clean underwear had been worn by someone and had pee and yeast infection stains on it. Several things were in that state, so I threw them out. The window locks didn’t work in the last room. The first room had no screen, so getting in would have been very easy. In the second room, the lock stopped working, and the maintenance man broke the door, forcing me to move everything to a third room. People smoke in the non-smoking rooms, including pot smokers. Some guests from the rescue mission are slobs. Some staff are really nice and helpful, but others are rude and unprofessional. Breakfast is always cereal, boiled eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and juice. The place is also inconvenient for shopping: it’s half a mile to the bus, then the bus leaves you 0.8 miles from Walmart. Getting around on foot or by bus is a pain.
Josh checked me in efficiently and helped when I couldn’t get my keycards to work. The staff are kind, prompt, and accommodating, and they’re upfront about what they offer. For a cheaper hotel, they do their best to help. I’d rate it 8/10, mostly because of the staff, and I’d recommend it for a short, less expensive stay. They’re doing some work at the property, so not all the rooms are in great shape, but the lower price suits me. I could park right in front of my room and keep an eye on my car, which gave me some peace of mind. It also seems pet-friendly, with a small dog-walking and picnic area by the hotel. There appears to be a residential side too, but I haven’t used that service and can’t comment on it. I saw some of the double-bed rooms, and they looked clean and nice. They said my deposit would probably take 2-5 business days after checkout, which seems reasonable. Thanks, guys!
The breakfast was limited, but the gentleman running it was a delight. He kept the bar and tables clean and was pleasant to talk with. The man who checked me in in the wee hours was friendly and answered all my questions too. The location is convenient, near Powers/21 and HWY 24. This morning I went to tell the desk I’d extended my stay through Expedia, and the young woman there was rude and had an attitude with every answer. I don’t work at the hotel, so how am I supposed to know its policies? She wasn’t helpful, and I don’t appreciate being treated like a problem by someone in customer service. That kind of attitude could cost them business. Econo Lodge across the way is sold out every night, and its staff have never been rude to me. I’ll cancel my Travel Lodge reservation and try to get a room at Econo before it fills up. A big thanks to the two men who helped me. They understand how to appreciate guests and gave excellent service.
The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, the tub was nice and deep, and the employees were friendly. There were waffles too. Check-in took an extremely long 20 minutes even though I’d checked in online, but the front desk attendant was really friendly and helpful. We kept our rooms clean and stayed quiet, so I’m hoping our deposit comes back promptly and in full.
I stayed three weeks in room 303, a one-bedroom suite, for IVF treatment, and couldn’t wait to leave. The staff were okay, and I never had an issue with them personally, but the room was in bad shape and didn’t feel worth $56/$60 a night. The listing photos didn’t match the place. The kitchen counter was greasy, the microwave was dirty and peeling inside, and the stove and oven were dirty too. I used the oven once, but it didn’t cook my food. The fridge was tiny, like one in a camper, nothing like the picture. The living room was okay, but the bathroom floor was dirty and the towels had black stuff on them. The bedroom bedding looked dirty, as if the bed had only been remade, so I used my own bedding. The bedroom TV looked like ink was running down from the top, and the picture was so dark I could only make it out in a completely dark room. At first the living room TV didn’t work, though they did send someone to fix it. They offered another room, but I had to wait until morning and then was told to wait until everyone checked out. They said an extra room was guaranteed, but with the snowstorm I decided to stay put. Cleaning took days to happen the first time, even though I’d asked for it that day. The second time, it took a day, so I stopped requesting it because they didn’t come when asked. There was a language barrier with the cleaners, but that wasn’t the issue. The toilet ran nonstop, all the outlets were loose and barely held a charger, except the one in the kitchen. The heater was noisy, and wires were hanging out of the kitchen heat vent. On the first night a strange man pounded on my door asking to be let in, then left. After that, someone knocked on the windows or door every night. I think the neighbors in 304 fought day and night, slamming doors and banging on walls, though I think they eventually left. Later, someone blared music all night. The people in 302 were okay at first, with three dogs, but the next occupants smoked weed and the smell seeped into my room. The doors didn’t shut right and looked as though previous guests had knocked them down. I stopped complaining after the first night because it seemed nothing would be done. After my egg retrieval, we’d been up all night because of the music, so we took a nap and checked out at 12 a.m. Management should inspect the suites, make sure they’re up to code and working, and ensure the rooms are actually cleaned properly. I’ve never had issues like this at Wydham hotels before, and I hope they do better.
