Mike Jones was accommodating and great to talk with. I loved how spacious the rooms were and really enjoyed my stay, though I spent a bit too much time in the gym 🏋🏾♀️. Breakfast wasn't free, which was the one downside. Still, I'd recommend it.

I checked in to the Hilton Columbia Center on December 23, 2025, for my 50th birthday celebration, which I was hosting at the hotel. It was a milestone occasion and a substantial investment in the event space, rooms, and related services. A routine question about whether water was available in guest rooms turned into a rude, dismissive exchange with the African American man at the front desk. His response felt unprofessional and out of place, especially for a guest hosting a major event there. That interaction brought stress at the start of what should have been a joyful, supported occasion and left me with a poor first impression. I expected courtesy and respect during check-in, particularly given the occasion and the amount of business I was bringing to the property. For a Hilton-branded hotel, I expected front desk service to be consistent, professional, and focused on guests, but that standard wasn't met. I won't host another event or spend that much at a property where a simple question gets that kind of response. Management should review front desk service expectations and accountability so guests are treated professionally and respectfully.

The front desk was a mess: a huge line, an unfriendly employee, and then they gave me keys to an occupied room. I opened the door and met a nice guy who, fortunately, had a sense of humor. I had two rooms, so after that mistake I waited ages for the elevator back down, waited to speak with someone, got corrected keys without much of an apology, then queued all over again to get upstairs. The elevator situation was ridiculous. There was one working elevator for this huge hotel, and it took 20 minutes just to get to the 7th floor. I tried the stairs, but they didn't lead back to the lobby. I also found a partly blocked fire exit with chairs in it. Where was management? Outside, there was only one valet, and cars were blocking the entrance, sidewalk, and road so badly I couldn't get close. I left and parked in the garage myself, which was filthy and had more trash than most garages I've seen. There was a homeless guy on the steps, too. The lobby was a wreck when I stopped by before New Year, and tile work by the elevator went on throughout my stay. The elevator needs service, and they know it. There were other smaller issues, but I'm tired of typing. For a Hilton, this was surprisingly bad.

Richard made our short stay especially nice. He welcomed us at check-in, was professional and warm, and went out of his way to share his knowledge of the area and hot spots to visit. He deserves a raise, haha, love him! The hotel was beautiful and immaculate, and the location was superb for downtown. I'd highly recommend it. We'll be back in May for our son's wedding, and I can't wait. I hope you get treated as well by Richard at the front desk.

Tobie, Alake, and Kanisha made a real impression with their warm manner and attention to detail. They went above and beyond, and are gems. The rest of the front desk team was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly from check-in on, which made us feel welcome right away. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and quiet after a long day. We also liked relaxing at the lively bar on site. The location makes getting around Columbia easy, and it's especially convenient if you're in town for a University of South Carolina (UofSC) event. We had a flawless stay and are already looking forward to coming back. This is the only place we'll stay in Columbia, SC.
