Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites

The staff were incredibly kind, even asking after our pup while she was at CVETS and wishing her well. They were also the most responsive hotel team I've used on the Bonvoy app, and handled any issue I raised. I appreciated the spacious room, clean floors and bedding, and the mattress was among the most comfortable I've had in years. The room felt like a roomy dorm, and the price seemed fair for the space. I also enjoyed the organic teas, especially the chamomile at night and English breakfast tea in the morning, with sugar and non-dairy creamer provided. I needed to be in Columbia, SC at short notice and booked two separate reservations. In one room there were outlet and mirror problems. A friendly staff member came by, and the front desk offered to move me since maintenance wasn't available that night. The desk gentleman checked the next room for those issues, brought me the keys, and offered to help with my luggage. If anything needed attention, I messaged the team in the app. A couple of problems: the back door didn't lock, which I reported to the hotel team, and my Bonvoy points didn't post, so I had to go through an annoying submission process. I'd stay here again.

The price is fair, and I expect I'll stay again on another trip. It met my needs overall, with easy access right off I-77, an indoor pool, and a laundry room. There wasn't much to see from the windows. The gym could use free weights, a cable machine, yoga mats, and a bench. It had too many cardio machines for my taste, just a lat pulldown, and maybe a couple of stability balls and three to six kettlebells, not pairs. Towels were available, but I only saw a used-towel basket, no wastebasket. My first treadmill had a slipping belt, so the equipment could use more maintenance. Still, I figured out a workout for my stay.

The place looked almost abandoned from outside, so I didn't expect the lobby to be so beautiful and welcoming. The staff were polite and very accommodating, and the service at both the hotel and restaurant was exceptional. We'll be back!

I came from out of town for a funeral, traveling alone, and had no vehicle. I use Uber, so when the manager said there was nothing he could do, I felt stuck. He was a Caucasian man around 6 feet tall with glasses. Staff had seemed kind at first, but then I was told I had to pay a $75 incidental fee. My account had been compromised because of out-of-town purchases before I arrived, and I thought everything was covered by the money taken online. I explained that I only needed the one night and believed it was included, but the manager told me I'd have to figure it out myself. That was all he offered. I couldn't just leave at that point. There aren't enough good people left in this world. Save your money unless you're okay with shitty attitudes and service.
