Motel 6 Columbia, SC - Fort Jackson Area

The grounds are lovely, and the staff were nice enough, but there’s a distinct smell as soon as you enter the lobby. Our room smelled just as bad and could use serious updating. The coffee machine also needs cleaning. The fridge door wouldn’t stay shut, and there wasn’t a microwave. For ice, you have to go to the front desk for a bucket, which could’ve been cleaner.

The rooms were clean, the prices were good, and the staff were friendly. Just be aware that it’s a rehab hotel, with the first and third floors reserved for people in rehab. If that makes you uncomfortable, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The service was good, the shared areas were nice, and breakfast was okay. Our room, though, was pretty rough. It felt damp from the humidity, and the sheets felt wet when we arrived, like they’d been taken out of the dryer about 20 minutes too soon. There were several long dark hairs stuck to a pillowcase, though I’d brought my own pillows, and the room smelled musty. Some people have mentioned that the rooms are dated, but I’d focus on getting them cleaner before worrying about that. You get what you pay for.

There’s a large lake across the property with amazing fishing, and they provide free canoes and kayaks. The suites are spacious and clean, and the staff are helpful and kind. Breakfast is served with ingredients from the farm behind the building, which has chickens and cows and is bigger than the whole building.
