Best Western Suites

This was my third work trip to this side of town, and after trying the place next door on my second visit, I’ll keep coming back here. The rooms feel spacious, with high cathedral ceilings, hard floors instead of carpet, and a modern but comfortable look. As a status member, I got a full bag of snacks, not just the usual two bottles of water. The staff have always been friendly, and I’ve never had a problem with them. Breakfast was fresh on two mornings at different times, which was a plus. I’d stay again and recommend it.

The room cost $240 a night and needs a lot of cleaning and updating before it’s worth that. I took pictures of how dirty it was. When we returned from dinner, I noticed the terrible smell came from the fridge, like rotting garbage or something dead. There was a rose petal in the Jacuzzi tub after we used it, and another like it under the bed. We brought only clothes, toiletries and snacks, so I assume the one in the tub was already in the jets. The Jacuzzi water was hot, but the jets had inconsistent pressure. The shower barely trickled on any setting, and the tub mat was slicker than the tub. I slipped getting out, hit my head on the wall and faceplanted on the floor. We’d arrived around 7:30 after driving just over an hour following a work week. At first the room looked decent, if dated and worn. The AC smelled of cigarette smoke, and I’d turned on its fan to air out what I thought was a stale room. We were hungry, so we left it running and went to dinner. I didn’t inspect the room closely when we got back because we wanted to relax in the Jacuzzi. By then it was around 1:30 or 1:45 a.m. We live over an hour away, I was tired and my head was pounding, so we went to sleep rather than call the desk. The bed seemed clean enough, and I knew from booking by phone that this was the only Jacuzzi tub room available in the chain. We skipped breakfast in the morning because the room was so filthy that I worried the kitchen and equipment were too. At checkout, the staff member took our card and moved on to the next person, who was upset too. There was a language barrier, so it was hard to get a word in.

I was just there during your surgery so I could be nearby, and didn’t get to use the pool or other facilities. The service was excellent, the beds were comfy, the rooms clean, and the continental breakfast was very good, with pastries, waffles and sausage.

A few little things could be improved, but I still had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, the bed cozy, and the staff friendly. It was comfortable overall, with a good location and nice amenities.
