The room and pool were in bad shape. There was a strong smoke smell, brown marks on the walls, stains even on the supposedly new sheets, a roach on the ceiling, and dead bugs nearby. The pool looked disgusting, so we packed up and asked for our money back as soon as we got to the room. We’d driven seven hours from Florida and arrived around 2 a.m. for a work trip, my group and I having booked two queen beds and a sofa bed. The young man at reception was friendly at first. He spoke with his manager and arranged a similar room at Quality inn Phenix City, though it was a different room because a football game had made availability tight. That hotel smelled much cleaner. I was disappointed to deal with all this after the long drive, but grateful we ended up somewhere better.

The service was awesome, but the room and breakfast came with a string of hassles. The juice machine wasn’t working, and although the worker said I could get water in the lobby, I’d been looking forward to OJ and ended up buying two bottles from the snack area. Breakfast itself tasted good. The sofa was badly sunken, so we couldn’t sit on it. The TV remote’s power button didn’t work either, which meant getting up to unplug the TV to turn it off, then plugging it back in to watch. Lots of inconveniences during this stay.

The staff were friendly, which was the one redeeming part. But our room smelled strongly of weed for all three days, and sheets on several beds were stained, including one with blood. We also found a cockroach in the bathroom a couple of hours before checkout and told staff as we were leaving. I’ve tried calling several times since, and it now feels like the manager is dodging me. If I could rate the room zero out of five, I would.

They barely cleaned my room, just straightened the bedding, and there was still a filthy washcloth in the shower. When I asked the manager for another room, he cussed me out. This place is disgusting and a total rip-off. I wouldn’t stay here if it were the last motel on earth, and the people running it are just as disgusting. I’ll tell everyone in Columbus to avoid this roach-infested motel. Expect a visit from the BBB and the health department. I’m going to take you down a peg or two and show you that you can’t treat people like this. You’d better start looking for a new job.
