Days Inn by Wyndham Columbus IN

We were about 15 minutes from where we needed to be each day, with shops and places to eat nearby, so the location worked out well. The room had everything we needed for a short stay, including a larger-than-expected fridge and a good-sized freezer. The beds were comfortable, and all of us slept well. The lobby was clean and the staff greeted us warmly. The building’s tile work was a nice change from the dated carpet we’ve encountered in other hotels, and the carpet here looked new too. You can tell the place has been updated and kept up, almost like an apartment building. The breakfast room had plenty of comfortable seating and the usual options, which were fine. We stayed two days and were satisfied.

Once I saw the stains on the bedspread and smelled something odd, I decided to leave and find another hotel. When I asked for fresh bedding, the front desk clerk’s attitude toward me changed. As we returned the keys, she was no longer friendly and asked, “what else do you need.” Check-in had been decent and the price was fine, but the exterior looked very old and wasn’t shown in the photos. It gave the impression of an old motel that had been bought and renovated. The whole experience was poor, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

There’s guest laundry, and breakfast was included. The room had a microwave, coffee, and a mini fridge that held plenty of food. The towels were comfy, the showers were nice, and the AC and heat both worked. The staff were polite and the atmosphere felt welcoming. It’s also close to attractions.

The man running the hotel seemed incredibly nice, and from what I heard, he bought it and has been actively working through its problems. He also canceled my second night without a penalty, so I don’t think things will necessarily stay this way. But I’ve been sick since the visit and think I may have a bad sinus infection, which makes sense given the circumstances. The room smelled awful when I arrived. I opened a window and figured it wasn’t a big deal since I only planned to sleep there. After going out, I came back to shower and go to bed, then woke in the middle of the night to roaches all over, including in the bed and pillow. I showed proof at the front desk, but the woman refused a refund, said there were no other rooms, and told me to wait until 10 a.m. to speak with her boss. She also said I shouldn’t travel if a few roaches upset me. I travel all over the world and have seen plenty, but this was the worst.
