Hampton Inn Columbus Ne

The room itself was nice and clean, and it seemed to be cleaned every two days. But the public bathrooms by the entrance were disgusting. I waited three days before mentioning the mess all over the toilet, then it took another day and a half to get it cleaned. The receptionist said she’d report it to the GM and have it taken care of right away, but it seemed like nobody cared for 24 hours. There was dirt on the floors, and the hotel entrance looked like it hadn’t been mopped in weeks. The room was good, but the hotel needs to be kept cleaner.

On the evening of 09/03/25, I asked the receptionist for a digital key. She laughed at me and was dismissive instead of helping. I’ve rarely had such a bad customer service experience at a Hilton Hotel. I expected the warm, friendly hospitality usually associated with the Midwest, especially in a small Nebraska town, but left feeling unwelcome and undervalued. Hilton usually gives excellent service, yet this property and its staff fell far short.

The staff are very friendly, and I enjoyed the happy hour with free appetizers. A very nice hotel and a great place to stay.

We were there for a wedding and had dozens of rooms booked. Some guests were verbally warned by the front desk about scam calls, but not everyone was told. A caller claimed that a credit card wasn’t on file and demanded the number immediately. The hotel knew this was happening but didn’t notify everyone, even though they have our cell numbers and text us after check-in to make sure everything is okay. They could have used that to warn us, and should have suggested taking room phones off the hook if we weren’t expecting calls. These calls came very late at night and early in the morning, when people might be groggy and more likely to fall for it. I nearly did. This is a safety issue the hotel had a responsibility to take seriously. My experience was otherwise great, but the front desk’s lack of communication overshadowed it.
