Holiday Inn Columbus Dwtn-Capitol Square by IHG

We came to Columbus for my daughter’s gymnastics meet at the Convention Center, and chose the Holiday Inn for its location. A little after midnight, we arrived to find that the room we’d booked wasn’t available. The guest service man said they had staff who didn’t care about customers, which isn’t what you want to hear while checking in. His offer was two handicap rooms on different floors, one for each of us. There were no rooms on the same floor, so we ended up both staying in the first room because my daughter didn’t want to be separated. The room was spacious and clean overall, but the bathroom, with its open wheelchair roll-in shower, smelled like urine even though the toilet had been flushed. We had to get up in five hours for the meet, so we stayed. I brought it up at checkout and nothing was done. After we got home, I called IHG on Sunday about the missing booked room, the smell, and a bill I’d received at checkout. They said management would call within 24-48 hours, but nobody followed up. I wouldn’t recommend this Columbus location based on our experience.

Burger Theory was a nice perk, with tasty food and a good beer selection, and the daily breakfast had plenty of variety and tasted good. I stayed five nights for the Arnold event. My room was comfortable, modern, and stayed very clean, and everyone I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and professional. Getting to the convention center by Uber was easy and inexpensive, usually $7-12. I felt the hotel was worth the money and would happily recommend it.

Joe, Natalie, and Amanda went out of their way to accommodate our family, and their professionalism and dedication made the stay memorable. I’m grateful for the service from the staff at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Columbus Ohio. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again for all your effort.

The staff were attentive and friendly, and there are lots of outlets by the bed for charging all my devices. This was my first stay here. The room was a little dated but still comfortable and usable, though the bathroom was really small. The downtown location is convenient for what Columbus has to offer, and I’d stay again.
