Travelodge by Wyndham Concord

The location was perfect, and I felt comfortable staying here for quite a while. I was able to extend my stay, and the manager was nice. I did think the price was high, especially with the pool not working. I left after my AirPods went missing at checkout last week. They're expensive, and I'm not made of money to replace them in this economy. I rushed out and forgot them while packing, with checkout the next morning. I called that morning and told the manager's wife, then returned two days later. I was told Lola, the housekeeper who had last cleaned my room, hadn't seen anything. I searched everywhere, emptied my suitcase, checked every inch of my car, and looked at my office at work, but couldn't find them. I tried the setting to locate my AirPods, but no data came up. When I went to the office again today, nobody took responsibility. The manager's wife said this was the first incident involving Lola and the first report of this kind, and that Lola had worked there a long time. I'd previously forgotten my phone charger, and another housekeeper, who was always polite and did a great job cleaning my room, returned it when I stayed again. She said, “You forgot this the last time you were here, and I was told you were coming back.” That was all settled. This time, I was told the housekeeper didn't see anything. I'm disappointed that I had to leave a place where I'd felt comfortable, but I don't tolerate stealing, even if it's something small. I also think failing to discipline an employee is worse and says a lot about the company's policies. In my view, employers shouldn't assume a long-serving employee won't do something wrong just because they've been around a long time. I've been a manager for quite some time and have seen questionable behavior from employees with more seniority than me. People should be aware that someone can get comfortable and think they can get away with things behind closed doors. I decided to leave tonight before things got worse. I felt they didn't believe me the first time, and worried something else might go missing and the person responsible would get away with it. The lack of professionalism affected my experience. Clear standards should apply to every employee regardless of tenure, since staff actions shape the experience of their clients. I expected better service and came away dissatisfied. It's unfortunate to write this publicly, but people should know about Lola. I'm not retaliating against her, and I know my rights as a citizen. I'll stay somewhere else. I have pride and standards, and I know what I'm saying is true.
