The TV had lots of channels, and everything in the clean room was in good repair. The owner-operator was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate me. It seemed like a well-run family business. Probably the best roadside motel I’ve stayed at.

We had a kitchenette in both rooms, which was handy, and the newer flat-screen TVs worked great. I was disappointed that neither room had a coffee maker. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were mostly clean, but they were pretty worn: stained carpet in several spots, chipped porcelain in the kitchenette, and a chipped bathroom mirror. We stayed two nights in two different rooms, and both were in about the same condition. The pool had water and looked inviting, but it was closed for winter. For under $70, it was probably about what you’d expect, though.

The pool was out of service, and I’d tell people to stay somewhere else. There were roaches on the beds in the rooms we rented. My elderly uncle was badly injured because there was no rubber mat in the shower, and the staff just shrugged it off.

The family who owns the place are a jolly crew, and there are plenty of places within walking distance. My main complaint is the rates, which are pretty high compared with motels in a major city. But the same family owns both motels in town, and the next closest place is at least 20 minutes away, so you pretty much have to play by their rules. It is a business, after all, and the place isn’t owned by UNCEF. The rooms are dated, though clean and semi-comfortable. They have cable TV and refrigerators, and some have kitchenettes. Other amenities are scarce. It works for a road trip stop or if you’re local and dealing with air conditioning trouble or something else that makes home unlivable.

The bed was comfortable, and the water was hot. The woman in charge was super friendly, and the place seemed like someone had tried to clean it. Still, the rooms were really outdated, and the carpet looked like a crime scene.
