the Alander

The grounds were a highlight, with wide mountain views, an open field, and nicely landscaped spots to sit outside. If you have a dog, it seems especially suited to that. There’s also a fire pit with chairs, and the lights around the rooms give everything a cozy feel after dark. Inside, the rooms were spotless and had what I needed, including a handy fridge and a beautifully done bathroom. The renovation mixes retro touches, like antler details and leather couches, with crisp linens and soft blankets. The owners were kind and welcoming, and their care shows in the details. I loved staying at The Alander and can’t wait to return.

We’ll definitely be back. The co-owner was nice to chat with while our kids got to meet the HR Manager, a puppy. It was our first stay, and the place suited us perfectly: quiet and cozy, with a restaurant on site and a few ski resorts nearby. We woke up to a message saying coffee and pastries were being served.

The North Star restaurant attached to the hotel was amazing. We live on Long Island and have plenty of great restaurants around us, and this one was just as good or better. My toddler happily ate both the bolognese and orange chicken. We found The Alander while splitting up a drive upstate for a family event, since we were traveling with our toddler, and it was just right for a night. Online check-in was easy, and the room was nicely furnished. Checking the room size before booking worked well for the three of us. The French press coffee, yogurt, and granola in the room were a nice extra. It’s a lovely little place if you’re comfortable being self-sufficient.

The room had charming decor and comfortable bedding, and I appreciated the complimentary local yogurt and granola. There were also delicious breakfast pastries and coffee in a beautiful lounge. The owner’s hospitality made for a wonderful stay. I’m looking forward to coming back.
