Hotel Ponce de Leon

A good value for the location, with kind, helpful staff and a nice overall atmosphere. I was in town for a weekend event in Coral Gables and liked the cozy room, modern appliances, and comfortable bed. The bathroom water pressure was quite weak, though. A couple things to know: there’s no elevator, but the front desk offered to help with my luggage. Street parking in front is paid, though it’s free from midnight to 9:00 AM. There’s also free parking around the block on Zamora St.

The room had vintage decor, and the hotel was clean, well located, and a good price. The trolley runs right in front, which made getting around easier. The staff were kind and helpful, and a special thank you to Jorge for being so accommodating during my stay.

Cute little boutique hotel with potential, but it needs major upgrades. There’s no elevator or parking, though there was usually plenty of paid street parking and some free parking around the next block if you can find it. The room was short on details and amenities: no face towels, a tiny TV, a small uncomfortable bed, small bathroom, small shower, and really small everything. I didn’t mind having a standard room key, but the door felt flimsy and not very secure.

I had some doubts after reading the reviews, but we didn’t run into any problems. The room and common areas were very clean, it was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The historic building has a lot of charm, and the location is excellent. If you’re happy with a more spare experience, this is great value compared with paying $300-400 for a chain hotel that doesn’t offer anything special.
