Suburban Studios

This hotel is a diamond in the rough. The rooms were spacious and really clean, which surprised me since plenty of hotels skip a thorough cleaning. It’s newly remodeled and very nice. Katie at the front desk was pleasant and accommodating and made me feel like I was the only guest. There was also a housekeeper named Wendy, if I’m remembering correctly, who checked that we were happy with the accommodations. I wish I could give them 10 stars. You don’t usually get service this good in hotels these days.

The rooms looked nice, but the covers and towels had stains, the floor clearly hadn’t been swept or mopped, and even after walking to the bathroom twice my new purple socks were black underneath. We were given just one already used roll of tissue. The manager was rude, and the person at the desk didn’t seem to know her job and had to call someone for every question. Staff came out wearing shorts and no socks or shoes. When we went to check out, nobody was there an hour after opening, so we waited for the owner to come, pick up an employee, and return before we could get our deposit back. The deposit was $100, which seems insane to ask for with a dirty room. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Very unprofessional.

My daughter and I were heading from Atlanta to Florida and needed a few hours of rest. It was late, but the manager worked with us. The room was modern and so clean I couldn’t find dirt anywhere. The location was easy to reach from the main roads, with a Dennys or something similar across the street. The downsides were an uncomfortable bed and weak shower pressure.

We’re early risers on the road, but nobody told us at check-in that the office doesn’t open until 7:30. The TV gave us trouble; the desk employee came by and tried a couple things, but it still didn’t work properly. We found something we could watch and left it there. The air conditioner clicked loudly every 10 minutes, ran for five, then shut off, all night long. There was one trash can for the kitchen, bathroom, and eating area, the king bed only had three pillows, and it was very hard. I’m still checking on an issue with the room charge. This place is off our list.
