Econo Lodge Darien Lakes

We stayed here for a couple of days with the kids while visiting Darien lake theme park, and it suited our needs perfectly. It’s a no-frills place, but clean, and the staff were friendly. The woman working the late-night check-in was especially pleasant, even after I asked her a couple of times for more pillows and towels. We’d definitely come back.

After a concert at Darien lake, my sister and I stayed here for the night. We felt safe the whole time, and the beds were comfortable. The room was clean and didn’t have the moldy or cigarette smell you get in a lot of motels. The staff were helpful and friendly, too. I’d recommend it to anyone heading to Darien lake who wants a cheaper hotel.

The service was excellent and the price was very good, but I’m surprised by all the glowing reviews. The bathroom had rotted wood, the shower was poor, and the ceiling paint was peeling and looked dirty. I can’t say whether it was mold, but the room needed updating and didn’t feel clean. Our part of the hotel absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. We found out some rooms are still smoking rooms and nearly left. The smell was disgusting, like old apartment buildings I used to live in. I wanted to forget the place, but the parent company keeps emailing me for reviews, so here’s mine. In a pinch it’s fine. If you have another option, I’d seriously consider it.

It took three rooms before I finally got one with heat. The manager said I should have taken a hot shower, refused a refund, and told me, “after all you used 3 rooms.” I won’t stay here again. They raised the prices during a snow storm.
