Airport Inn Suites

At 1 a.m. we woke up to people shouting and fighting outside. It kept going until after 3:30. The blankets smelled so bad we couldn't bring ourselves to use them. Worst place I've ever stayed.

I usually don't write reviews, but people need a warning so they can find a better motel. The outlet in my photo shocked me when I tried to plug in my phone, after we'd already had to hunt around for working outlets. Mold in the pillows is inexcusable, and the stink hits you at the door. It's awful, damp and moldy, and even worse once you're lying down. Most outlets didn't work anyway. The pool was dirty and neglected, with clothes in it. There were strange stains around the bed, maybe nicotine, and the lighting was dim. The main light didn't work, and one switch shut off power to the whole room. The curtains were barely hanging onto the track, and the top lock was missing. The shower was disgusting, with hair in it, and its shower head was broken. They gave us only three towels for a room with two beds. The walls are so thin I could hear the couple next door going at it three times while I was trying to sleep. Good for them, I guess. As for the staff, I only saw one man working. He took ages to come to the desk when I needed help and was extremely rude. When I asked about ice, he stared at my chest and ignored the question until I repeated it. The only upsides were that the room had lots of space for our stuff and the beds were comfortable, even if they were disgusting.

I booked this for a week of work and am glad I found it, especially since it's only four miles from the beach. The place is quiet, with no one hanging around or wandering past the rooms, which matters to me. The room is big and clean without that fake chemical-clean smell. The grounds are spotless, and though the property is older, it's been looked after. The pillow-top bed was really comfortable, and the AC kept the room cold even with it over 100 outside. For a budget motel, it doesn't seem to know it's a budget motel.

We only stayed because it was too late to find somewhere else. Right from the main office, the attendant was rude and seemed to have no customer service skills. He asked for my documents and ID, then dropped them on the counter instead of handing them back. The place felt sketchy, and our room had a disturbing humid, musty smell. It wasn't very clean either, with trash left behind by the previous guests. The lighting was dim.
