Emerald Beach Hotel

We were out of there in less than five minutes. The room was filthy, and it wasn’t even the one we booked. We’d reserved a king but got two matrimonial beds, which we thought we could manage until we saw blood on the sheets, a leaking toilet, brown marks on the walls, and mold everywhere. There’d already been a long line at check-in, with people asking for refunds or complaining about their rooms. When we went back downstairs, the manager offered only a partial refund, then didn’t give us one. We checked out and booked another hotel. Luckily, our bank returned the full amount after we showed proof we hadn’t stayed there. The manager, Ali, is a complete liar. Don’t waste your time or money.

I’ve stayed here with my family for years, but after bringing my husband recently, I won’t be back unless this is sorted out. Our second room was just as bad as the first: mold on the vents, curtains, and ceiling, no working AC, and no usable sink or toilet. A hundred-degree day without air conditioning or plumbing is unacceptable. I complained to the front desk, and they said we’d get a refund once their supervisor returned the following Monday. Nothing came through. Priceline and I have called management every day for over a week and still haven’t heard back. Since the hotel won’t answer my calls or the third-party booking service, I’m posting here in hopes someone will contact me to confirm my refund is being processed.

The whole place looks like upkeep is barely happening. There were dead and live roaches, and the 24-hour gym wasn’t available. My first room had no AC and was barely clean. The second was a little better, but still not clean enough. The front assistant, "Ali," wasn’t really helpful. He lied and said he was the manager on duty so he wouldn’t have to do much assisting. The check-in staff were friendly, and I liked having the beach right there and a bar area. The pool was okay, though there weren’t any towels during my visit. The location was a real plus, but the room problems made the stay disappointing. The AC barely worked, so it got hot and we kept switching it off and on to make things bearable. We didn’t complain because other guests said they had the same trouble. The water was dangerously hot too, so we couldn’t use it for more than a few seconds without worrying about burns. That was the last thing we needed after coming back from the beach. I know the property has historic significance, but that doesn’t excuse poor maintenance. Unless these issues are fixed, I don’t see myself returning.
