Coastal inn Corpus Christi

The desk clerk looked over a few options after telling me I couldn't use the two rooms I'd reserved because my wife had booked them and wasn't there yet. The only offer was to cancel or pay double for new rooms. Then another desk employee said he'd call the police if I didn't leave. Scott L, Satiz L & Jordan B were the employees involved. I waited a while for police to arrive, then gave up and went to bed. I went next door to Hampton inn and had to pay triple for two rooms. I'll contact corporate about the hostile, unprofessional way this hotel is run, and I'll keep posting about this awful experience.

The room had a leaky shower curtain, no bathroom ventilation and a lot of moisture, plus rusty fixtures. The TV was so dim that dark scenes were nearly impossible to see, even after I changed the settings. In the pool, the water was too warm and circulation was poor. Towels were limited to one per person, the laundry room dryer got hot enough to risk damaging clothes, the luggage carts were dirty with sand from previous guests, and the hotel trash cans were too small to be useful. Breakfast was poorly managed: items ran out, and we had to ask for refills even when more were available. The food wasn't great, and some of it seemed to have been sitting out too long. Staff seemed disengaged and were usually on their phones, helping only when we approached them. The elevator made loud scraping sounds inside the shaft even with one person aboard, felt unsafe, and was too small for a luggage cart. The stairs also weren't clearly marked for emergencies. The stay only covered the basics for a night. The property needs a lot of work on maintenance, service and amenities, and fell far below what I expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

The staff were nice, and the janitors did the best they could with what they had. The towels, linens and counters were clean. My room was worn and had a slight odor, with some maintenance that looked poorly done. The bathroom faucets had problems, though I could still bathe.

The room smelled like dirty feet, and the clerk who checked me in had strong marijuana breath. When I went looking for pool towels, he got upset that I wasn't at the front desk and had opened the laundry room. There was no sign saying it was staff only, so I thought it was the public laundry. He was rude and argumentative when I said I just wanted towels. I came out smelling more like marijuana; maybe he was vaping CBD back there or something. He gave me only three small towels and refused when I asked for a couple more. He also wouldn't tell me his name, saying I could talk to the manager in the morning and he didn't have to give it. He was chubby-faced with a long goatee and wore a baseball cap. At checkout, they told us to leave, with no extra time even though we'd checked in late.
