Motel 6 Corpus Christi, TX

It’s a quiet, nice hotel, and I had a great stay. They welcome pets and have an area for them. I’m giving it four stars because the freeway is close, so there’s traffic and it can be hard to get to. Housekeeping doesn’t refresh the rooms, either, just brings clean towels and such.

We just needed somewhere to sleep during our trip, and this worked. The rooms are on the small side, but the price is lower, and the bed did the job even though it wasn’t the best I’ve slept on. Staff were great, parking was plentiful and well lit, and it was easy enough to find as long as you watch out for the one-way streets. There are places to eat and shop nearby, and the beach isn’t far.

We’d stayed at this motel once before, but we won’t be back. We checked in Friday, January 16, and left Saturday morning, January 17. My husband got out to book the room, and they swiped our debit card several times before saying the system was down. We went to get cash and came back; then they said the system was working and charged the card. The room charge of $83.28 came out, but there were also five more transactions: two for $100, two for $50, and one for $500, adding up to $800. I called and spoke with Crystal. She wasn’t nice and wouldn’t give me her last name or the coworker’s. She said a coworker had charged my account by mistake and that they’d refund it in 5 to 7 business days. I shouldn’t have to wait for money they tried to take. I called my bank, which is investigating, and filed a report with the Corpus Christi police department. I’m hoping they look into who was responsible. I’m also planning to report this to Corporate.

It was nice and clean, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The kitchenettes have full-size fridges, so you can stock up at the nearby HEB and cook instead of eating out all the time. Pets are allowed for an extra fee.
