Palm Bliss Hotel Corpus Christi South

Sonny and the staff were really cordial, and he's been understanding about what we're going through. We loved the rooms and their colors. For breakfast, I'd like to see cereal and yogurt alongside the bagels, and I imagine other guests would too. Otherwise, this motel/hotel deserves a high rating.

That review from Lauren Whitley sounds completely made up. She called the bed better than the one at a five-star Houston hotel and said she wanted to take the mattress home. Please do, because this place is a roach motel. They use black sheets so it's harder to see if they haven't been washed at first glance. Look at my photos. When I showed them to Sonny, the innkeeper, he sounded shocked and asked what the brown crust on the sheets was. I told him he could answer that himself. We didn't stay, and we didn't get our money back. They said they'd make things right, but reading the other reviews, I don't see how.

I tried both types of room. The nonsmoking one was reasonably clean and met basic needs, with a working TV, fridge, microwave, and usable bathroom. It wasn't Hyatt quality, but it was fine. The cheaper smoking room was a different story, and they didn't require the $50 deposit for it. Its blankets were just thin sheets, the microwave had no glass plate, the TV didn't work, the mini fridge had food stains, and there were no trash cans. I can put up with a smell or stains, but the basic equipment should work. They openly told me the smoking room would be dirty, then charged more for a "cleaner" room. Every room should meet basic health and safety standards. How does this motel pass inspection?

The bed was the highlight for me. It was more comfortable than the luxury bedding at a five-star hotel I stayed at in Houston the week before, and I wanted to bring the mattress home. My room was quiet even though the hotel is close to the highway, and everything looked spotless. The decor was lovely and gave the room a calm, welcoming feel. Getting there was easy, with convenient parking, and check-in went quickly. The front desk staff were warm and professional, especially Sunny, who was kind, helpful, and seemed to put guests first. Hotel Palm Bliss in Corpus Christi, Texas, made a great impression, and I'd happily return or recommend it to people passing through.
