Super 8 by Wyndham Corpus Christi Airport

The lobby looks gorgeous, but that’s the one good part. The elevator is out of order, the rooms need remodeling, and there’s no cable, just a Fire Stick. Breakfast runs from 6 to 9 a.m., but when I went down at 8, they weren’t restocking anything.

The lobby looked fancy when I arrived, but the room was a different story. There was mold all over the walls and ceiling, which was especially concerning since I was with my asthmatic siblings. The room felt like it was falling apart, and there was a lot of activity in the parking lot and hallways. It even reminded me of the Upside Down in Stranger Things, except hot and sweaty because the AC couldn’t cool the room. The front door frame was broken and the door had no seal, so we could hear people outside and they could hear us. The AC couldn’t cool properly because of the gap. The beds also felt damp, like someone had sprayed them with a mister. Staff weren’t helpful when we raised these issues. The hotel seemed more concerned about adding fees for smoking. If you don’t want to risk rashes, coughing, or a sore throat from sleeping there, spend the money and stay somewhere else. The health department should look into it. If you’ve had your tetanus shots and vaccinations, maybe you’ll be okay while you cancel and find another place.

It was pretty much what we paid for. You can see some updates being made, though they don’t seem focused on the areas that need them most. The microwave, refrigerator, and vanity mirror were new, and the Wi-Fi was free and open.

I’d rather camp than stay here again. The property was littered with trash, and nobody seemed to pick it up. The exterior is badly outdated and neglected, with old gum stuck on the walkways and paint needed everywhere. The rooms were okay, though the shower area was rough. The toilet wasn’t secured to the floor, and cracked tiles had been patched with caulk so sloppily it looked like a child had done it. Hot water was unpredictable, varying by day and time. I will never stay at another property managed by Wyndham.
