For a budget extended stay, this place is quite nice. The room was spacious, with plenty of useful furniture: a clothes rack and shelves, dresser, dining table for two, desk, and office chair. The beds were comfortable, and I had no complaints about the pillows or sheets. The kitchenette has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Ask for kitchen and tableware, and the front desk was happy to give us disposable items for a simple breakfast and coffee. There was enough lighting, though it was all harsh, cold white. For a longer stay I'd bring a softer reading lamp or swap the bulbs. The hard floor isn't as nice as carpet, but it was clean. The bathroom was in good shape, with good water pressure and hot water, enough counter space, and towels that were better than expected for the price. I'd bring my own shampoo and conditioner, since the 2-in-1 may not work well for long or fragile hair. The single curtain blocked light well. There's plenty of parking and the staff are friendly. I didn't see an elevator to the second floor, so ask for a ground floor room if lifting luggage is difficult.

The kids loved the pool, which became one of their favorite parts of the trip. Our family had a wonderful time at HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland, and the friendly staff made us feel welcome. The hotel was clean and felt well cared for. Our room gave us enough space to spread out, and had what we needed to be comfortable. Traveling with children can be stressful, but the stay was easy. We were also surprised by how much value we got for the price. It's hard to find a place for families that feels clean, comfortable, and affordable, and this one did. We'd happily stay again and recommend it to other families passing through.

The front desk employee was courteous and offered to move us as soon as I reported the bugs. But it was late, and as a mother alone with three children in an unfamiliar area, finding another hotel wasn't a realistic option. We had to repack everything, move the tired kids, and carry our things downstairs to a first-floor room. There were no bugs in that bed, but the odor and lack of natural light were still there. I was traveling alone with my three children for a baseball tournament and stayed at HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof in Cortland. Check-in staff were friendly, but the rest of the stay was extremely disappointing. There was a strong, unpleasant smell as soon as we entered the building. It didn't exactly smell dirty, but it wasn't clean or inviting either, and it got stronger in the room. Our upstairs room had no visible elevator, making luggage with three kids a hassle. Inside, it felt dark, outdated, and unwelcoming. There was no phone or clock, and no natural light. What looked like a window faced a cluttered storage area with broken furniture, debris, and dirt, so the room felt more like storage than a hotel room. We got back from baseball games around 11 p.m. and found several live, worm-like larvae crawling on the bed. Google Lens suggested carpet beetle larvae, though I can't be sure of the exact species. Live bugs on the bed were unacceptable. I'm glad the stay was just one night. Paying full price for a dark, poorly maintained room with odors and insects was incredibly disappointing. I appreciated the desk staff's professionalism, but the property fell far below reasonable expectations. I wouldn't return or recommend it. Disappointing doesn't begin to describe it.

Being right off Interstate 81 made this a convenient stop, with Taco Bell, Denny’s, and gas stations nearby. We had a comfortable stay at HomeTowne Studios & Conference Center Cortland and would consider returning. Our suite had two double beds and felt surprisingly spacious, with a microwave, full-size refrigerator, desk, and dining table. The room size and pool were nice bonuses, and it never felt cramped. The frosted windows were the one thing we didn't love. We understand they may be for privacy with the pool nearby, but they made the room feel less airy and obscured what could have been a nice view. Still, it's a good value with spacious rooms and a great location, especially for a road trip.

After a long day, check-in was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful. I spent one night here and found the room clean, comfortable, and seemingly recently updated. Having a kitchenette and full-size fridge made a short stay more comfortable, and there are lots of nearby food options. The location is handy for passing through or visiting the area. A simple, solid option for the price, with no hassle. I'd recommend it for a short stay and come back.
