Super 8 Corvallis

The price was great, and the front desk guy was really nice. I was a little wary when we had to stop here, but I ended up pleasantly surprised. It's an older place, but very clean, and good for what it is. Can't complain! 😎

There are trails, a river, and parks around the property, with restaurants nearby and a Safeway a few blocks away. You can walk around town or ride bikes, and since it's a college town, there's usually something going on at night after a day of work or meetings. Bars and video poker are close too, if that's your thing. The night staff are amazing and deal with a lot of the gaps left by the day shift. Day staff are pleasant and accommodating, but communication with guests can be difficult, and people aren't always on the same page. The maids don't speak English, and nobody at the front desk speaks Spanish or Mexican, which can get frustrating. The lobby computer and guest printer don't work. The pool and hot tub are there, but the health department shut them down a long time ago, apparently because of a leak in the water tank or pump. It seems like they may stay closed for good. The website should be updated with accurate information instead of selling rooms under false pretenses. I also wonder why Ramada or Wyndham haven't helped maintain the property, since Super 8 is part of their franchise.

The bed was super comfy, and the location makes it easy to walk straight downtown. In the morning, a rugby team went over plays in the parking lot. The desk guy came off grumpy at first, but he was actually cool. The smoke alarm was broken and flashed a bright red light all night.

The woman at the front desk was SUPER helpful and moved me right away when my first room smelled strongly of animal urine. The replacement room didn't smell, but the sheets were stained, so I took them off. Then I spotted little bits of mold on the shower ceiling while I was bathing. The service was great, but the cleanliness was terrible. At least I didn't have to deal with bed bugs.
