Courtyard by Marriott Salt Lake City Cottonwood

This place has been our home base in Salt Lake, and we've stayed several times. The property and local staff are lovely, but Marriott Corporate and its reservation system have lost us. I called three times and kept getting sent to the main Marriott reservations line. I was trying to book one full-price week and a four-day stay for a first responder. One agent quoted a $142 per night First Responder rate for our week. When I called back with confirmed dates, the new agent, Jolene, could only find $194. The front desk then told me there actually isn't a First Responder Discount. Both bookings were lost because of the reservation line. The agents there seemed like a mix of bots and the D-team. I'd also transferred Bonvoy points to use, and now I won't. It's frustrating to see a big company try to save money with Customer Engagement Centers staffed by people who seem poorly trained, communicate badly, and are flat-out incompetent. Give me a good old-fashioned front desk person who knows the property and can do what's right for a guest within reason. If you stay, I hope you get the right rate and room availability and have a good visit. We're breaking up with Marriott.

The mountain view was stunning, and the in-room coffee suited us since we were in a hurry. Parking is $15, and breakfast costs extra. The bathroom had nice shampoo and body wash. Courtyard by Marriott Salt Lake City Cottonwood has a stylish modern look, and everything was clean and well kept. It's a smaller, cozy hotel in a quiet, safe area, organized well enough for groups. It works for a relaxing stay or just an overnight stop.

Saturn at the breakfast bar was incredibly friendly and attentive, and really went above and beyond. Breakfast itself had plenty of choice, with made-to-order items as a nice extra. The pool area was relaxing and well kept. Our rooms at Courtyard Salt Lake City Cottonwood were spotless, modern, and comfortable. The location worked perfectly for us, near the mountains, downtown, and lots of places to eat. Hotel staff suggested The Porcupine, our favorite, and 8 Settlers, and both were great. The clean facilities, amenities, and especially the staff made this a stay that exceeded our expectations. I'll definitely come back when I'm in Salt Lake City.

The room was clean, and the location was great. It was a nice stay, except the woman at the front desk gave off such a bad vibe. She seemed completely insincere and like she didn't want to be there. I understand if she hates her job, but she shouldn't be working there if that's how she treats people.
