The location worked well for us, about 10 minutes from the zoo, shopping, and places to eat. We especially appreciated that the front desk loaned us a life vest. The pool was warm and clean, but it echoes badly and gets very loud when kids are playing. There were over 30 kids there during our swim because a dance competition was next door, so we didn’t stay long. We came back early the next morning to swim instead. Our mistake was assuming breakfast was included with the room, like at other hotels we’ve stayed in. It isn’t, though there’s a cafe where you can order breakfast and coffee. Rooms were decent, with nice big showers, but the walls and furniture showed some wear. Staff varied, from really helpful and happy to not very enthusiastic. The carpets in the halls and rooms need cleaning, with some sticky patches. I’d call the stay about 3.8/5.

The walk-in shower was great, and the room had loads of space to work in. I slept well on the comfortable bed, and the curtains made it really dark at night. I’d stay again. A couple of details left me confused. There were two shampoo bottles instead of body wash, though I don’t know if that was intentional. At check-in I was told towels and bedding wouldn’t be replaced, but someone changed them on the first day and not the second. Totally fine, just inconsistent.

We came for Thanksgiving and found the room comfortable and clean, and the indoor pool was nice. The problem came at breakfast: we’d paid a breakfast rate and went downstairs during the hours we’d been told, but the Bistro was already closed, earlier than the holiday hours posted in the elevator. We had to go elsewhere to eat. I understand letting staff go if business is slow on a holiday. Still, when I told the front desk, the woman was rude and condescending. A simple credit for the breakfast overcharge and some acknowledgement of the inconvenience would have helped. This is why I’m taking stars off for customer service, especially since recent comments make it sound like a known issue.

We booked this place because it was near the venue for a VB tournament, and won’t choose it for the next tournament. My granddaughter pulled back the bedding and found bodily fluid stains on the fitted sheet. I called the desk right away and asked for enough bedding to replace everything on both beds so I could change it myself. The gentleman who answered brought it up promptly and said he’d tell the housekeeping manager. When I raised the issue again at checkout, there was no record of my call. I was told it would be reported to the manager coming in at 1:00. It’s now 8:30 and nobody has contacted me.

The patio out back was comfortable, and the place is convenient for Mid America Center and a couple of restaurants, within walking distance for tall people. The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were really friendly. It’s also accessible for people using a wheelchair, electric scooter, or walker. There’s no complimentary breakfast like at Super 8 or some other hotels, but the bistro was really good. I was here for a convention weekend and can’t wait to come back next year. I also liked the cookies at the front desk, though not the flavor I got.
