Super 8 by Wyndham Covington

After staying one night for an out-of-town event, I ended up covered in bed bug bites. I’ve spent three days trying to reach management, but each time I’m told the manager will call me back “the next day.” No one has followed up. On my last call, a staff member said the manager had an emergency and promised to get back to me, but I still haven’t heard anything. There’s been no apology, no accountability, and no effort to resolve this. The customer service was very poor, and the experience was unacceptable.

The mildew smell in the room was really unpleasant, and my wife had a terrible headache that lasted until we left. We didn’t have an ice bucket, and when I went to get one, the bottom was dirty. The ice machine downstairs near our room was broken, so I had to go down the stairs and walk to the far end of the building for ice. As a disabled Veteran, having to go up stairs made that especially unappealing. The housekeeping staff were very nice, but I didn’t feel we were treated like paying customers. It wasn’t a pleasant stay for us, especially for my wife because of the headache and smell.

We stayed for five weeks while we were in town for work, and it was a good stay for the money. The hotel was clean and fairly priced, with a simple free breakfast. There are restaurants and lots of stores nearby, some within walking distance. Staff were friendly and always available if anything came up.

The mattress was clean, and I generally like Super 8. Check-in around 7 pm was pleasant, with a warm welcome from the receptionist, and the room was tidy. The air conditioner in room 224 was a little noisy, though. I also felt the toiletries were incomplete: there was shampoo and conditioner, but no soap.
