The Southern Hotel

Downtown is right there, and the hotel gave us a phenomenal experience. I hosted a company retreat, and everyone enjoyed the rooms, which felt unique while still being comfortable and full of Southern charm. The meeting spaces worked well and had everything we needed for productive planning sessions. The team was welcoming and accommodating throughout. Danielle and Luis helped arrange everything and made the stay seamless, and Copper was wonderfully hospitable. It’s a beautiful hotel with an even more beautiful staff. Go see for yourself and book a stay.

We had no issues at all. The staff were very accommodating, and the place was clean, upscale, and spacious. The courtyard and pool are nice, and restaurants and shops are an easy walk away. It also looks like a good venue for receptions.

This hotel fills up early whenever there’s an event around Covington, so try to book well ahead if you’re planning to stay at the Southern. It’s handy for getting to plenty of restaurants on foot, and there’s a very nice restaurant right in the hotel, along with a pleasant bar on the ground floor. Trailhead park is only a couple of blocks away. They hold some neat functions there in spring and fall.

The lobby and indoor and outdoor seating areas are lovely, and the fireplace was especially nice when we returned from dinner in the evening. The restaurants on site are beautiful, and we received wonderful service at check-in. We were excited to stay at this boutique hotel while surprising our son, who has lived in Covington for two years. We’d happily eat at one of the restaurants, but we wouldn’t stay here again. Room 222 was a letdown. The carpet had several stains, which immediately made the room feel dirty. We’d been told there would be two double beds, but instead there were small, square pillows like the ones at any chain hotel. The online photos showed plush, full-size pillows. The wall-mounted TV was small and poor quality, and we slept badly because of the beds and pillows. The bathroom was spacious and had a walk-in shower, but there was very little counter space despite all the room. It had only one hook on the door. A bureau could have added useful counter space. The toilet lid was cracked, and the toilet paper was very cheap. A boutique hotel should offer better. The elevator and hallway, with majestic statues, red doors, and lanterns, felt like stepping back into the 1920s. The building has plenty of beauty, but the room didn’t live up to it.
