We had to leave early, and they got breakfast ready a little earlier when we asked. The staff lady and the housekeeping brother were very friendly. The free Wi-Fi was useful, and the room heating was really efficient. We were there in winter, so that was a blessing.

I was driving to Vegas and needed a few hours of sleep. Before booking, I spoke with the staff member twice. On the first call, about 20 minutes before booking, I asked about staying until 7 a.m. and was quoted $64, the full night rate, so I declined. I called again and said I’d take the full night. I explained I only had $64, but he insisted on $65, and I paid the extra dollar to get a room. He knew about my late, unusual arrival, my budget, and that I needed rest. Booking.com showed a one-night stay as “Sunday to Monday,” but at 3 a.m. I found out my reservation was for the prior night, Saturday. After only a few hours’ sleep, I called the desk to clarify the dates and politely ask for a small complimentary extension. He was rude right away, talked over me, and hung up. I called back just to ask for a few minutes to brush my teeth and gather my things. He refused. Then he came to my door, aggressively propped it open with a luggage stand, and threatened to call the police over the checkout dispute. I was the only customer there, so there was no logistical reason for that hostility. His actions felt unprovoked and intimidating, violated my privacy and security, and created a terrifying environment. I had to collect my belongings and leave immediately. I strongly advise travelers, especially SOLO BLK travelers, to avoid this property because of the staff member’s aggressive and unsafe conduct. He showed no basic decency, professionalism, or customer service.

The front desk man cleared up the mix-up quickly when I’d booked a king bed but got two queens instead. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed had clean sheets with no stains or tears. The big TV was nice too. It’s not a walkable spot, but there are plenty of stores and restaurants just a few minutes away by car. A perfectly fine budget hotel if you need somewhere to spend the night.

My room was comfortable and clean, and Hector was great to deal with. He upgraded the room, then showed me exactly where it was. Really helpful. This is a perfect stop when driving from Colorado to Illinois.
