Gina greeted us, checked us in, and offered great suggestions around town. She was a pleasure. The hotel also took care of an issue we had and resolved it promptly. My one complaint was hearing two older maids yelling about politics outside our door. I was there to get away from that kind of ignorant employee talk, so maybe they could be asked to keep it down. I won’t let it take away from what was otherwise a great hotel.

Gina was amazing and dealt with the problem in my room right away, trying to make the stay enjoyable. The room was a bit outdated and had a slight smell, though for the price it wasn’t much to complain about. The hot tub in my room didn’t work the first night, and Gina even made sure I got some credit back for that.

My wife and I tried staying here two weeks ago, and we won’t be back. The pool and sauna were both closed, with no mention of that when we booked. When we checked the mattress under the sheets before bed, we found several stains and what looked like evidence of bed bugs. We packed up and left that night, then reported it at the front desk. No manager contacted me the next day. I called again a few days later, reached voicemail, and still never heard back. The cleaners and management have been a complete joke, and this experience has been abysmal. I’ve tried to be patient, but this is ridiculous. If management is afraid to talk to a customer about a complaint, they should step aside for someone with more backbone. Since nobody seems concerned about health standards, I’m going to file a complaint with the BBB and senior management at Golden Nugget.

The suite couch was so nasty I wouldn’t even consider sitting on it, and the beds had no fitted sheets. The curtains were too small to block the bright parking lot streetlights, so it hardly felt like nighttime. I booked through the Golden Nugget website without realizing this place was part of their hotel, and the confirmation email didn’t arrive until a few days after my stay. There was no attendant at the desk until 7:30 a.m. I left a complaint he couldn’t handle, and he said he’d pass it to his boss, but nobody ever called or emailed. I wouldn’t stay here again even for free, much less for the $153 I paid.

The hotel and rooms were clean, with comfortable beds. We liked the location and the view down over historic Cripple Creek. The pool was unusually large for a hotel, and the hot tub was properly hot. The listing was otherwise accurate, but there was no breakfast, and although it said there was a grill, there wasn’t one. Keep that in mind if you planned to cook or eat there during your stay.
