Wyndham Garden Cross Lanes Charleston

The view from my window was just chef’s kiss, and the room was spotless, with nothing out of place. I stayed here on two separate nights during a trip, and both times the staff were incredibly kind and understanding. Even though the hotel was out of the way, it was easily the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. 10/10, I’d absolutely stay again!

The food was delicious, and I appreciated that they served it after hours. Breakfast had the basic nutritious things you need, with boiled eggs among the standouts, and the service was attentive, kind, and professional. I live in Houston and haven’t experienced anything quite like it, so I’m grateful I got to enjoy what they offered. At the Wyndham garden, check-in was quick and warm, and my room was clean and had no odor. The tubs were nice and clean, with a non-slip base.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but they couldn’t fix the bigger issue: the property was badly neglected. The rooms were worn, very dated, and unclean, with a smell that made the years of neglect obvious. It felt dishonest because the place didn’t match how it was advertised online. We cut our stay short because the rooms were so poor. I can’t recommend it. There were much cleaner, better updated properties across the street for similar prices.

The pool was closed because of a chemical imbalance, and staff couldn’t say when it might reopen. That was one of the two main reasons we booked, along with the suite. The other mismatch was the sleeping setup: we were told there’d be two queen beds and a pull-out sofa, but found one queen and one king. That might fit five “on paper,” but it wasn’t realistic. The room itself was clean, though it smelled old and sour. After getting a refund, we searched for another hotel. We booked because the online pictures and reviews made the place seem decent and it had space for five, but reality was different. The Wyndham may have been nice once and could be again, but it needs renovation inside and out, a major overhaul.
