Aloft by Marriott Jacksonville Tapestry Park

We booked at the last minute and had a wonderful stay. Sam got us checked in quickly and helped us find things we needed on short notice. The rooms were clean, and we like that the bathrooms have showers only. We didn’t get a chance to use the bar or pool, but we hope to come back. This will be our first choice next time we visit Jacksonville.

The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom had good lighting and lots of counter space. I liked the unusual design. The TV was great, though there were visible lines along the bottom, probably from someone pressing the screen too hard. The shower is roomy and didn’t spray water everywhere like other walk-in showers I’ve used. But the floor gets slippery quickly, water pressure is weak, and there could be a shelf or two, including a little footstool area for shaving. With the low pressure, I had to really scrape and squeeze to get all the shampoo out of my hair. The AC unit in Room 124 did the job, but it was dreadfully loud below 72°. It sounded like it needed repair and was too noisy to sleep through.

The chef made a really good breakfast right there for us. Traveling with a group of about 20 for a sports event, including our girls aged 16-17, the hotel and staff were very accommodating. We had a small party, and the travel coordinator was awesome to work with as parents made last-minute reservation changes because the schedule shifted. Service was top notch, from a welcoming front desk at check-in to checkout. A big thank you to everyone for making the trip memorable. We’re already planning to stay here again next year.

The biggest problem here is getting a good night’s sleep. The walls are thin enough that we could hear conversations from neighboring rooms, and hallway doors slammed constantly. We dozed off between 11:30pm and 4am, then woke to more slamming doors and a neighboring couple having a full-on argument in the hallway. The AC was noisy and sometimes gave off an unpleasant smell. Earplugs might be a good idea. There are a few other annoyances. There are no blackout curtains, and light gets in around the sides even though the shades work reasonably well. No ice machines on the floors either, but the front desk downstairs gives out pre-bagged ice. The gym is a good size, though the free weights lean heavy, so lighter ones may be hard to find. Breakfast was a nice extra when included in the rate. It’s made to order rather than a buffet, with omelets, burritos, or sandwiches. We chose the fully loaded veggie option, which was generously filled. The taste wasn’t anything special, but it was filling and a solid start to the day. The place feels clean and well kept, with comfortable enough beds and pillows and a pleasant atmosphere. It’s clean, functional, and fairly priced for what it is, but if sleep matters most, you may want to stay elsewhere.
