Quality Inn Crystal River

The room felt dark, dingy, and run-down, and the hotel was noisy. Breakfast was nearly nonexistent, just two cereal options, dry sausage, and yogurt. The bathroom was tiny and dirty, the shower didn't drain properly, there was hair on the sheets, and the hair dryer was coming loose from the wall. I was very disappointed with the quality and cleanliness of the Quality Inn Crystal River.

The front desk ladies were a riot, almost as much fun as the manatee tour, lol. The hotel itself was clean, with basic rooms, and I have nothing negative to report. I didn't try the pool since it was 40 degrees during my visit. If you're in town to see the wildlife, this is the place. Looking for a bougie five-star stay? Probably not for you. I'd stay again without hesitation.

My husband, son, and I booked one night while visiting from a neighboring city for a fishing tournament. The front desk woman was friendly and informative, and the staff's kindness is the only reason this gets one star. I don't blame them, though housekeeping clearly isn't doing its job. My husband waited about 10 minutes before anyone showed up at the lobby desk. When we opened our room, the mothball smell was overpowering, like a damp hunting camp from the 1970s. The room seemed to have fresh towels, bedding, and toiletries, but hadn't been properly cleaned. Dirt, dust, and debris were on the floor, so we kept our shoes and socks on. The shower, tub, toilet, and seat had black hair from previous guests all over them. The vanity and sink hadn't been wiped, and tiny ants were crawling up the wall and onto the counter. We saw no bed bugs, insects, or roaches, but old box springs and furniture were stacked in the second-floor hall. I can only assume they may once have been infested with bed bugs, given the state of our room. There was also debris around the property and pool that could be dangerous if children got into it. To me, these problems start with the owner or manager not setting standards for cleanliness or comfort. The overall standard seems barely there, and our experience gave me little reason to think they care about return visits. The owner and management should be held responsible, and the health department needs to be notified. Quality Inn should reconsider the owners and managers allowed to represent its name. My family and I won't return, and I'd recommend staying elsewhere. A tent would've been a better experience than the Quality Inn in Crystal River, Florida.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were pleasant. The location was good, though a little off on its own. Breakfast was basic but fine. The hotel was fine, just not fabulous.
