Best Western Fairwinds Inn

We got there at 6:10, shortly after breakfast began at 6, but the food in the warmers was refrigerator-cold. The room itself was clean, though the very soft, worn mattresses were uncomfortable. The pillows were in poor shape, and the pillowcases that should've been white looked off-white.

Breakfast wasn't something we tried, though at check-in the receptionist said there'd always be something available after the 6-9 breakfast hours. The check-in was easy, and the room was clean; it looked like the owner had updated the rooms. One towel was stained, but they replaced it the next day. On day two, the power went out for maybe 2-3 hours because their sign wasn't working. Luckily it wasn't hot and humid that day. I think there may be a language barrier with the staff. On our last day, housekeeping knocked even though our “privacy please” sign was up. I said we were leaving at 11 and showed it to them, but the man turned it around, apparently thinking that helped. Both sides say privacy please! Anyway, it's not a bad hotel. Don't rely too much on reviews, since some people are really picky about what they expect.

The desk clerk was a young woman, and she was very helpful when I needed my sheets changed. The room smelled strongly of cleaning solution, and the door was hard to open. It felt dated except for the floors, and the bathroom seemed clean. Breakfast wasn't good. This motel could use some TLC.

The young woman at check-in was quick and friendly, and that part was wonderful. The shower was dirty, with an old rag left in the curtain and hair all over the tub, including private area hair. The bed was uncomfortable too. Why was housekeeping skipping its daily tasks?
