Hampton Inn Cullman

The bed was super comfortable, and the front desk woman was really friendly. I’ve stayed here twice this month, and it’s only a couple of turns off I-65. The rooms are standard hotel rooms, and the hot breakfast was good, though I was disappointed there were no biscuits and gravy, potatoes, or grits. The ready-made bar had scrambled eggs and sausage only. Both times we had room 121. The couch side facing the bed needs cleaning, and housekeeping should pay closer attention around the toilet. I’d still stay here again.

The lobby and hotel look great, and I liked having coffee and tea available around the clock, plus complimentary popcorn and cookies in the evening. Check-in went well. After that, though, things were disappointing. The bed felt like a box spring, and the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast looked promising, but even the hot items were only room temperature at best. The eggs, sausage, and potatoes were mostly cold.

I’ve stayed here before and would stay again, though finding the right road was a hassle. I missed the little turn and had to get back on the highway for another 14 miles before I could return and find it. The signs for amenities could be better too. Outside my room there was a lot of noise, but it wasn’t sharp, so eventually I tuned it out. Breakfast was fine: the orange juice tasted good, and the white gravy was runny but okay. I’d have preferred cranberry cocktail instead of a water enhancer.

I left disappointed. The rate was exorbitant, and finding and accessing the entrance was difficult because the signs were poor. We were given a handicapped room even though we hadn’t requested one. Noise from the parking lot and hallway made it hard to sleep. Breakfast was good, and housekeeping could use some improvement. The night clerk was outstanding: courteous, polite, helpful, and great at answering questions and providing service. Still, this was a poor excuse for a Hampton.
