Chief Motel

We could walk to restaurants and stores, and I loved sitting on the porch chairs outside our room in the early evening. The room was clean and comfortable, and the owners and staff were very accommodating and friendly. They even had a spot set up for people to wash their motorcycles. I didn’t use the pool, but the area looked nice. I booked this room on a last-minute motorcycle trip to the 85th Sturgis Rally. The motel seemed like it was built in the 1950s or 60s, which brought back nostalgic memories of family trips and places we stayed when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

We had a few family emergencies during our stay, and the owner was so considerate. Thank you so much, and thanks as well to the sweet puppy. The housekeeper we spoke with was kind and had strong ethics. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Everyone cared, and the stay was comfortable and accommodating.

We’ve been coming to Custer for years and usually stay at one of the big three at the end of town. This place was $70 cheaper, so we gave it a try, and I’m glad we did. The room was genuinely clean, with no hair, dust, or bathroom mold. Even the toilet paper was thicker two-ply. The bed was comfortable, the AC was cold, and numbered parking spots meant we could park right by our room. There’s a pool and jacuzzi too.

Bruce was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The motel is within walking distance of a few restaurants, and each room has a microwave and mini fridge, though breakfast isn’t served. There’s an indoor pool advertised as the “largest in the county,” plus a hot tub and sauna. Men’s and women’s changing rooms each have a shower and toilet. Our designated parking spot was handy, and we liked having a ceiling fan instead of a noisy wall unit. It’s a cute place.
