It felt like home here until a pipe burst in the last freeze and everyone had to leave. I really hope they get it repaired soon so we can return. The staff were helpful, and most people were kind, though there was one night employee who wasn't. I always saw pets on leashes. The rooms are older, and some have been damaged enough to need closing for repairs, but the rooms that were open were actually very clean. The pool and continental breakfast weren't available because the owners were still fixing damage from several incidents. The only trouble I saw was guests giving staff a hard time over things that weren't their fault. Problems caused by booking through a third party aren't the hotel's fault either.
They spring a $100 deposit on you right before payment. I also heard one worker was caught taking the cash deposits, and those deposits still haven't been returned. The pool is filthy and seems to attract mosquitoes.
I never got to stay the night. I used Southwest Points to book two nights, but when I arrived, they said they couldn't honor the reservation. I know things can go wrong, especially with a third party booking, but the way they dealt with it made things worse. The concierge just pointed at the sold out sign, gave no explanation, and seemed annoyed with me. She said they'd tried calling, but didn't have a working line. I'm not sure what number they called, but it wasn't mine. They waited until I was already traveling to tell me the booking couldn't be accommodated, leaving me needing somewhere to sleep. Being met with a condescending shrug on top of that felt like an extra insult.
I moved to Texas for work and booked this place near my job while my house was being built. The advertised pool with a handicap lift, two-bedroom accessible suite, and grab-and-go breakfast sounded right. I've stayed in plenty of two-star hotels without trouble, but this felt more like one star. The staff were pleasant, though getting help could take ages because the front desk was often empty. I didn't find the hotel a good fit and eventually moved to another two-star property until my home is ready. The difference has been astonishing. After buying breakfast, cleaning supplies, and a robot vacuum I won't use again, I almost feel Extended Stay America owes me money. My skin will also need a while to recover from all the scratches. From 8/6 to 10/21, my room was cleaned just once, and that meant the linens were changed. I wasn't sure the blanket was clean because I kept feeling like something was crawling on me afterward. Some towels were gray and dingy, so I refused them. When I told the desk clerk hotels usually throw out gray towels, he said they'd have to discard a lot of them. I don't see why that should be my problem. I asked for a broom and they had none, so I bought a robot vacuum at the five and below store. There was a disgusting, alarming amount of dust, hair, and debris that wasn't ours, and the vacuum was still picking up other people's hair on my last day. The closet curtain and bedskirt were filthy. I asked twice for replacements and never got them. At least the bed was comfortable, I slept well, and the pillows were really nice. I couldn't leave the curtains open without people walking their dogs looking into my room, since there were no sheers or other privacy option. There was also plenty of dog poop in view, and unleashed dogs sometimes rushed at me because some owners ignored the rules. The pool and breakfast from the listing weren't there. Granola bars lasted about a week, then stopped. People took the creamer, and what was left was always open and cruddy, so I quit drinking the coffee. There was no grab-and-go breakfast or nearby alternative. It took over a week to get kitchen dishes. I was also charged a $50 deposit I hadn't authorized. When I asked for a receipt, they printed the signature they had on file as if I'd signed for it. I asked them to remove my signature from their system, but they refused and said I'd agreed to storage. I wouldn't have agreed, and I don't know how they got it. The hotel policies are ridiculous.
Jodi and the rest of the staff gave me the best service I've had at any of your hotels around the country. When my refrigerator stopped working after two days, I told Jodi and she personally replaced it in about 30 minutes. Gina was great too. Thanks to Jodi and the team for a really good stay.
