La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Dallas Uptown

Sam made us feel welcome as soon as we checked into La Quinta. He was friendly and helpful the whole time, always ready with a smile when we needed something. He pointed us toward good places to eat nearby, and we really enjoyed the food. He also gave us directions and answered our questions, making sure we were comfortable. We’re grateful for Sam’s help. He did a great job and made the trip better.

The room had a small fridge and microwave, and enough space to feel comfortable. It was clean and simple, and I’d stay here again. The hotel is off the highway, so noise was a known concern from the reviews, but our room behind the lobby had some protection from it. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, plus a pleasant neighborhood with sidewalks behind the hotel for walks or jogging with a dog. It’s 3 miles from downtown. We took the bus there for museums and other activities, then walked back both nights. The stop for the bus downtown is at the 7/11. We slept in, so we didn’t try the free breakfast.

The breakfast had a lot to choose from: fresh waffles, bagels with cream cheese, yogurt, apple and orange juice, and really good coffee. The rooms were modern, clean, and very nice, and the staff were excellent. I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. For this particular location, it’s right up there with Hilton.

The king bed was large and comfortable, and there was a big TV. The room was spacious enough for my two-day stay, with plenty of room around the vanity, though the bathroom and shower were a little cramped. The continental breakfast wasn’t great either day: waffles, bagels, cereal, and similar items, but no cooked eggs, sausage, or bacon. For those, you’d have to go next door to Denny's. I picked this spot because it was close to the football stadium I was visiting the next day. It’s right by the Central expressway near the SMU campus, with easy access on and off, and Denny's next door. The price was reasonable, and I wasn’t disappointed with my stay.
